21st Century Ethical Luxury Fashion:
for women who invest for the long term

Ethos
‘Ethical consumerism has always been the driving force behind my work and although the ethical landscape has changed since 1997 when I created the label Clothworks, the power of the consumer to place their hard earned cash in the right place has never been greater. My label Boutique Ethique offers an antidote to high street homogenisation of style, offering women a unique range of clothes made in a sustainable fashion.

‘Evolutionary design pays homage to the excellence that has come before and avoids the trashing of old things before their time is up.’
Linda Row

Collection

Designed for adventurous women, who have an appreciation for quality and craftsmanship and are not afraid to stand out and be individual. Boutique Ethique’s collections, evolving from one season to the next are made in the UK by a team trained in couture. These timeless pieces for autumn winter 2011 are made from a combination of wool, hemp and printed silks designed by Louis RC. Asymmetrical detailing cuts across each piece to create a simple but striking impression of colour and pattern. Shiny hemp silk charmeuse used for an evening coat puts back the glamour into the night time, the fabric redolent of Louise Brooks’ slicked back hair. This season Boutique Ethique is introducing some organic wool gloves, the first in the UK, along with a range of printed art scarves.

Fabrics

The fabric producers that Boutique Ethique works with are committed to sustainable production. Two of the tweed manufacturer, Ardalanish and Dashing tweeds, are based in the UK and their cloth is woven in Scotland. The silks are printed in the UK and can be offered in peace silk which does not harm the moth in the process of reeling the yarn.
Alongside these are naturally dyed silks which add a unique palette of subtle colours. A local ceramic artist, Steve Jenkins, makes buttons for the the coats and jackets.
